The Jealous Guys have mastered the fine line between intellect and ignorance with a sound they call “conscious playa shit.” Being witness to the gentrification of San Francisco with a black population that continues to plummet, all in the midst of the cities ongoing housing crisis, the murder of Mario Woods, the resignation of Police Chief Greg Suhr, and the Frisco5 hunger strike, TJG have created an album that serves as the soundtrack to a revolution. Art of Hip Hop Vol. 1 out now, Vol. 2 on the way.

The Upkeep, a politically driven album with collaborations from all over the Bay Area. Equipto tends to create these timeless projects and he has a way of involving the younger and older generations into these projects, whether it be through his activism or his ability to rhyme about almost anything. Honored to have been able to work with artist that I've been listening to since I was a child, give Queezy a listen. He is always in the studio working on some ear pleasing beats.

Alma Rosae has created her own lane in the rap game. Her background being a Bosnian war refugee mixed with her experience growing up in the Bay Area make for a sound that is raw, artistic, and unapologetic. She created her brand "Wild Child" to represent a lifestyle that embraces the hustle and always challenges the norm.

Dregs One, an accomplished graffiti artist, emcee, producer, and scholar, Dregs has kept San Francisco hip-hop tradition alive since his teenage years in the Hyphy Era. Perfecting his independent Bay Area hustle, Dregs has maintained an acute awareness of social issues after seeing his community evolve from the crack era to gentrification and beyond.

In 2018, Dregs started putting out his best work yet and co-founded Audio Vandals, an independent production company. In December 2020, Dregs dropped Fog Mode featuring Andre Nickatina and the following month Black C joined the Fog Mode (RBL Posse Remix). This paved the way for Fog Mode: The Album, a new Dregs One solo album that unites different neighborhoods and generations of SF hip-hop. Keeping that Frisco culture alive through graffiti and hip-hop, Dregs continues to make his mark on the world.

I first was introduced to Calina Lawrence through Sam Gabel (Professa Gabel) and a project they had worked on together. Since then I’ve learned that Calina is a citizen of the Suquamish nation and is a passionate human working on spreading awareness on issues happening currently on tribal reservations, native indigenous communities, climate change and many more. All of this comes through in her music and gives you a better understanding of who Calina is and how she uses her art form to help others.

My Room Needs New Light Bulbs, a new project by Professa Gabel & Baghead. Released through Audio Vandals on February 28th, 2020. This album brings you to the forefront for what the younger generation in the Bay Area are currently fighting for and experiencing, through Gabel’s use of metaphors and idioms. While, Baghead brings you these psychedelic beats that induce a sense of 90’s hip-hop influence, making you want to jump up and down and fight for your right to party.
